Emerald Earrings

Two different things share the word. On this page, emerald means the green gemstone. Elsewhere in the earring collection, names like Emerald Studs and Timeless Emerald Huggies refer to emerald cut, a long rectangular step cut, and the stones in them are diamonds. The product page settles it: an emerald weight listed in carats means the stone is an emerald.

Yes, these are natural emeralds rather than lab-grown. Nearly all emeralds in fine jewelry are clarity enhanced with oil, a long accepted practice in the trade, and any treatment on a specific stone is confirmed on its product page. The treatment is stable in normal wear. It is also the reason emeralds ask for gentler handling than a diamond does.

Wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing and store them away from harder stones. Emeralds sit around 7.5 to 8 on the hardness scale, below diamond, and the oil in their natural inclusions can be stripped by ultrasonic cleaners, steam, and hot soapy water. Keep them away from all three. Bring the pair in once a year and we will check the settings.

Most of them do. The emeralds are usually paired with small round diamonds, lab-grown or natural, that lift the green, either alternating around a huggie, framing a drop, or filling one half of a hoop.
