Jewelry Care & Maintenance
A short guide to keeping your fine jewelry brilliant: how to care for each material at home, and when to bring a piece to us.
Everyday habits that protect every piece
- Put your jewelry on last, after skincare, perfume, and hairspray, which dull metal and stones over time.
- Take rings and bracelets off before cleaning, gardening, swimming, or the gym. Chlorine and harsh chemicals are hard on gold and can loosen settings.
- Store pieces separately, in a lined box or individual pouches, so they don't scratch one another.
Diamonds
Diamonds love a simple clean. Soak in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap for 20 to 30 minutes, brush gently behind the stone with a soft toothbrush, where oils collect and dim the sparkle, then rinse and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Do this every couple of weeks and your diamonds keep their fire.
Gold (14K and 18K)
Warm water, mild soap, a soft brush, and a soft cloth, the same gentle method. Skip anything abrasive, which leaves micro-scratches. A professional polish once a year restores the original luster.
Platinum
Platinum is exceptionally durable and won't fade, though it develops a soft matte patina with wear. Many clients love that look; others prefer the high shine. Either is your call, and a quick professional polish brings the shine right back.
Pearls and delicate pieces
Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth after wearing, and never soak them. Store flat, away from other pieces, so nothing scratches the surface.
Traveling with jewelry
- Use a dedicated jewelry travel case.
- Pack valuable pieces in your carry-on.
- Keep items separated so they don't scratch.
- Don't leave jewelry unattended in a hotel room.
Jewelry is meant to be lived in
The best pieces aren't the ones kept in a box. They're the ones you reach for, worn to celebrations, family dinners, and ordinary days that turn into memories. Care for them so they last, and then wear them. That's what makes them part of your story.
Let us take care of it
